At age 13, Argentina born Ernesto Ferreyra precociously landed a job as a radio DJ in his hometown of Cordoba. At 14 he was spinning at under-18 discos. By 16, he was a fully-fledged club DJ. Meanwhile, he made a pass at conventional career planning but soon found out his time at university mostly revolved around weekends in clubs. “I saw my path was marked,” he says. “It was music.”
Determined to see the world, Ernesto moved to the maelstrom of Mexico City, where he lived for three years, performing all around the country and taking the first steps into his production career. Next, he relocated to Montreal, drawn by the vibrant creative culture of Canada’s electronic music hotbed. There, his studio skills moved into high gear, driven by his friendships with the MUTEK artists and in particular with Guillaume Coutu Dumont, whom he records and performs with under the Chic Miniature moniker.
In summer 2010 Ernesto was resident DJ at Ushuaïa Beach Club with Cadenza boss and mentor Luciano, and during 2010-2012 he was a longstanding member of the Vagabundos parties at Pacha.
In the winter of 2010 Ernesto released his debut album ‘El Paraiso De Las Tortugas’ on Cadenza which received an abundance of press plaudits. This has all been combined with non-stop touring across the five continents taking the stage at some of the world’s best venues including Berlin’s Watergate and Panoramabar, Tokyo’s Yellow and London’s Fabric.
Ernesto’s crisp, seductive cuts also appear on labels such as MUTEK, Crosstown Rebels, Musique Risquée, Cynosure and Memoria; remixes for Manuel Araneda, Acirne, Adam Marshall and Luca Aniston have all been released to widespread praise.
